Top Ways Real Estate Investors Hold Title

In our blog post, 5 Ways to Hold Title as a Real Estate Investor, we discussed some common ways for investors to hold the legal ownership rights of the properties they purchase. Now, we want to take a closer look at the numbers of investors holding title in each way. Visio Lending, along with other industry leaders, sponsored The Iceberg Report to gauge this information. Conducted by The Harris Poll, The Iceberg Report surveyed residential real estate investors throughout the country on their investing strategies and methodology. Here are the top ways investors claimed they hold title:

  1. Through a company they own and run (with or without help): 48%
  2. Through their own name: 33%
  3. Through a separate entity (such as an IRA): 12%
  4. Through a fund: 2%
  5. Other: 4%
