Making A Website on Wix: Is it really that easy?

Making a Website on Wix

Making a website can be overwhelming, even for someone with experience. In my career, I’ve worked on the creation and launch of dozens of websites using Wordpress and Squarespace. However, when it came time to create a website for my freelance business that would also showcase my work samples, I wanted to go a different direction. Ultimately, I chose Wix because of its affordability and ease of use.

Wix walks you through every step of the website creation process. At the start of the process, it asks you about the type of website you want to create and offers 12 different categories. Once you’ve selected your category, you can choose how you want to make your website. You have the option to answer a few questions and let the Wix Artificial Design Intelligence (ADI) create the website for you or you can create your website yourself using the Wix Editor. No specific skill level is required for either option.

Wix Editor provides seamless templates where you can simply point and click to adjust or rewrite text and replace images and elements. If you aren’t using a template, adding images, text and other elements is still extremely easy. You can add in forms and any other capabilities you need, such as email and analytics, through the app center. Some of the apps will have added charges, but many do not.

Another unique feature Wix offers is Wix Logo Maker, which allows you to create your own business logo quickly and easily. It's much more affordable than a graphic designer, and offers you a download of every type of file option you would possibly need for branding and advertising.  With the Wix Logo Maker, you will also receive color and font information, so you can build out a brand.

When you are ready to launch your website, Wix walks you through in easy to understand terminology of how to purchase your domain and connect it to the website you created. I used GoDaddy for my domain, which worked seamlessly with Wix.

If you're on the market for a logo or website, Wix is worth exploring. It is extremely user-friendly and has an extensive Help Center.
